St. Regis Saadiyat Island is the new addition to the St. Regis hotels. The hotel opened in the end of 2011 and is the first St. Regis property in Abu Dhabi. The new propery offers 377 luxurious guest rooms and suites, signature Iridum spa, proximity to the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, and a variety of dining outlets.

St. Regis Saadiyat Island is a contemporary luxury resort, designed with  the elements of Meditteranean architecture and details with Arabic flair. The hotel’s decor is based on the natural elements and simple, neutral color scheme that compliments the beach and the sea. This allows hotel’s interior to convey luxury but without being too flashy or distracting.

Glass Studio collaborated with the resort’s opening team to create a line of amenity items for the hotels’ guest rooms and suites.

The  line for the hotel’s room amenity program includes 11  items, from small dishes for turndown service to large ice buckets and fruit bowls, which are combined according to the type of the room.

The main idea of our designs for this property was to create amenities that would complement the interior and accentuate the luxurious yet minimalstic and elegant style of the rooms.

Our designers decided to get inspiration from the hotel’s beautiful beach setting and to  incorporate the colors of the scenery into amenities.

Our designers selected a soft blue color (the color of the sea), conveyed through the crackled pattern, as the base of the  design. They selected smooth, free-form shapes for the amenities that march with the calming ambiance of the rooms.

Designs also featured items with glass cloche, such as dessert plates, in order to protect the food that is served in the rooms.

The NRA Show is one of the largest international events in the restaurant and hospitality industries. Produced by the National Restaurant Association, the Show draws over 58,000 hospitality professionals, exhibitors from over 900 product categories and visitors from over 100 countries each year to Chicago to showcase the latest trends and innovations in the market.

Glass Studio had a great honor to exhibit at the event of such magnitude.  This year’s show was marked by the “premiere” of our new product under the Tiger Glass brand, the “Clickman”.

Our new concept for flexible buffet displays was met with great enthusiasm from the industry experts and professionals.

Described as a product of Glass Studio’s  ”cutting-edge design creativity”,  ”Clickman” was welcomed with positive reviews from the NRA’s visitors, and was featured by Tabletop Journal in the news about novelties displayed at the NRA Show 2012.

The Phyllody Collection

Phyllody… the process by which plant organs turn into foliage. Leaves… organs of a plant specializing in photosynthesis – the eternal process with which Gaia sustains herself, providing food, water and oxygen to most animals, including humans. This pattern is an Ode to Gaia, to Phyllody.

Its natural brownish, earthy colors will work well in a western restaurant environment as well as in a restaurant with Pan Asian decor. Its low conical rim and its square shape contrasts well with the eternity of its foliage, providing a modern interpretation of a classic pattern.

The Tokyo Collection

Inspired by nature’s diversity, with a design that unfolds like an organism  from the seed within, the “Tokyo” pattern is handcrafted on both sides of the plate, with its colors overlapping each other, emanating a 3-dimensional effect.

Tokyo’s metallic colors of olive, copper, cream and blue, are well fitted for a tropical or island resort. The form of collection’s shapes is based on curves that  ”flow” and promote the harmony between human habitation and the natural world. The Asian look, the handmade feel and the sustainable shapes one of our oldest collection make it one of our customers’ strongest preferences.

Glass Studio had a  pleasure to present our  tabletop design concepts to the FHA’s international audience.  Out stand  (4E3-05) featured presentations of our signature collections: The Moon Collection, The Phyllody Collection, The Damask Collection, and The Tokyo Collection.

We also featured  illustrations of some our recent projects, such as room amenities for The Torch Doha Hotel and tabletop designs for “New York Steakhouse” at Renaisance Doha.

Glass Studio‘s designers worked with restaurant’s opening team on the tabletop design that would compliment the restaurant’s menu and also give a bold statement to the decor. In the aim to create truly unique and memorable tabletop, our team developed custom design for the restaurant’s show plates.

The custom design features an imprint of an image of a bull on a bold black background, created using Glass Studio’s unique technique of icon application.

The icon of a bull in motion is very powerful and dynamic, and gives  the tabletop a bold look that makes any additional accessories redundant. It is also a perfect match for the restaurant’s menu centered on steaks and grills, and foreshadows the culinary journey that lies ahead for the restaurant’s visitors.

Our team presented several ideas for table settings, using Glass Studio dinnerware from various collections. Although each table setup was unique, all ideas were conceptualized under the same theme: spring, elegant, and stylish.

Dinnerware pieces selected for presentation included charger plates, dining plates, side plates,  small and large serving bowls and glass boxes with lids. Each tabletop design was created with a different set of colors: pastel pink, green and lavender, bold gold, white and yellow, as well as with different plate shapes and patterns.

For presentation our colleagues used dinnerware sets with “millefiori” ,  ”floral”,  ”center”, and “crystals” patterns (also appearing in MyGlassStudio’s signature “Bloom” and “Pearls” collections), which perfectly matched the spring theme.

Our team demonstrated once again how Glass Studio dinnerware creates the “wow” effect in dining experience, and how tabletop designs have the power  to set the tone and style of the venue.
