About Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain
Kempinski’s new Bahrain venture opened in September 2011 . New property is composed of two hotel towers, each designed with its own distinctive style: ”Grand” - an epitome of contemporary luxury and “Ixir” – an ode to traditional elegance. Located in the center of Manama and adjacent to the Bahrain City Centre Mall, the property is in the heart of the city’s urban life. Equipped with 450 rooms and suites, eight restaurants and bars, landscape terrace pool and a wide range of relaxation facilities, the hotel is an oasis for leisure and entertainment.
Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel was conceptualized to bring the best of Kempinski’s hospitality tradition and mix it with the local flair. Its lavish and chic decor combines crisp European taste in luxury with warm Arab hospitality.
Hotel offers wide spectrum of culinary experiences, ranging from Middle Eastern dishes at “Baharat” and gourmet European and Mediterranean flavors at “Saveur” and “Nasmat” to elegant afternoon teas and delicious pastry at “T-Spoon”.
Glass Studio played important role in hotel’s opening and created various dinnerware designs for its all-day-dining venues, high tea service and room amenities. Today we present to you our custom-made designs for high tea service.
Custom-made designs for Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain
In the aim to deliver truly outstanding dining experience to visitors, hotels’s renowned Executive Chef Holger Jackisch desired truly original and creative dinnerware designs for food presentation. He teamed up with Glass Studio‘s experienced designers to make this idea come true.
Custom made design centered on the creation of a high tea stand that would not only be functional and practical, but would also have a symbolic value.
Following Chef’s vision, the design of the tea stand featured four thin caved metal bars intersecting at the top and holding a metal ball – thus reminiscing Manama’s Sail and Pearl Monuments. Not incidentally, this shape also corresponds to the hotel’s signature logo.
This transformed a typical 3-tier stand with square glass plates into a unique dinnerware piece. Accompanying the concept of high tea service, Chef also added glass spoons for creamy dessert items.
Attention to details and creative take on the high tea presentation allowed our designers to create a unique and elegant dinnerware piece. Here is how Chef Holger Jackisch described his Glass Studio experience:
“Glasstudio is the tool to use when do you want to put your imagination into reality”
“They have a fantastic team of skilled people which not only do glass plates but just anything made out of glass.
I just designed an afternoon tea stand with them which was born a drive to work. I had in my head for weeks, sketched it on paper and had countless telephone conversations with their staff. At the end it was the best tea stand I have ever done. I can only recommend to anybody who is into design and creativity to go in touch with this great company and just have fun with their glass items.”
